Dear Colleague Letter: Accessibility in Online Education

On May 19, 2023, the Justice Department and Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights, issued a “Dear Colleague” letter addressing online accessibility requirements in Higher Education.

The letter suggests that OCR is getting more serious about holding institutions accountable for a lack of compliance and access.

This letter is one DSS providers should be sure that their institution’s executive leadership is aware of because accessible content creation is the responsibility of each of us and not just one person at an organization.

This is important because better access for individuals with disabilities tends to mean better access for everyone in the process.
